2025 Outreach Committee Food Drive – Collecting Canned Corn through November 9

Perry Highway Lutheran Church is excited to once again partner with Light of Life Ministries to help make Thanksgiving brighter for families in need throughout our community. Each year, Light of Life assembles hundreds of Thanksgiving baskets to share with those who might otherwise go without a holiday meal. These baskets are filled with all the traditional fixings that make the day special, and PHLC has the privilege of playing a part in this meaningful ministry.

This year, our Outreach Committee is inviting you to join in our 2025 Food Drive by donating standard-size canned corn (please, no creamed corn). Through Sunday, November 9, we are collecting cans with a goal of reaching 150 cans. With everyone’s participation, we know we can reach—and even surpass—this goal!

Why canned corn? It may seem simple, but when combined with all the other items in the baskets, it helps create a complete and comforting Thanksgiving meal. Each can represents a seat at the table, a taste of warmth, and a reminder that no one is forgotten during this season of gratitude.

You’ll find a designated collection area in the Narthex where donations can be dropped off each Sunday. Every can you bring makes a difference. Whether you give one can or ten, your generosity is a blessing to someone who needs it.

Together, as a congregation, we can share God’s love in a tangible way and remind our neighbors that they are cared for and supported. Thank you for being part of this important outreach effort. Let’s fill the baskets with love, hope, and plenty of corn!
