Film Club Watching Babette’s Feast

The PHLC Film Club invites everyone to a special movie night on Friday, December 5 at 7:00 pm, when we will gather to watch the beloved 1987 film Babette’s Feast. This gentle, thoughtful, and beautifully crafted story offers a lighter and uplifting cinematic experience—one that speaks to the heart of Christian community in a profound yet accessible way. Set in a small, remote Danish village, the film follows a humble community shaped by simplicity, devotion, and tradition. Into this setting steps Babette, a refugee with a mysterious past, whose gifts of hospitality unexpectedly transform the lives of those around her.

At its core, Babette’s Feast is a celebration of what it means to come together around a shared table. The film reminds us that the simple act of eating together can be a ministry of its own—offering comfort, connection, and glimpses of God’s abundant grace. Through the warmth of shared food and the breaking down of old barriers, the story becomes a cinematic reflection of God’s promise of new life and renewed relationships. It shows how generosity, creativity, and welcome can open hearts in ways words sometimes cannot.

We hope you will join us for this meaningful evening of fellowship and film. Whether you’ve seen Babette’s Feast before or will be experiencing it for the first time, it is a movie that invites reflection and gratitude. While we will enjoy the film together on December 5, a dedicated time for group discussion will take place at a separate gathering so that everyone has space to process the film’s themes more deeply.

Come as you are, bring a friend, and enjoy a night of community, conversation, and inspiration. We look forward to sharing this beautiful story with you.
