Join Us in Sharing Our Blessings: Support Our Refugee Family
As members of Perry Highway Lutheran Church, we have always believed in extending our hands and hearts beyond the confines of our sanctuary, embodying the spirit of generosity and compassion that defines our faith. This season, we have a special opportunity to put this belief into action by supporting a family in need through our collaboration with Trinity Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church.
We are thrilled to introduce a unique initiative – a Sharing Board in our narthex, dedicated to supporting the refugee family we are sponsoring. This board lists household items the family needs, providing a tangible way for us to contribute to their new beginning in our community. It is important to remember that refugees are people whom the US State Department clears to enter our country because they have been pressed in their native country. This is a great opportunity to live out our inclusivity values in the real world.
What Can You Do?
- Visit the Sharing Board: Located in our narthex, the Sharing Board will display a list of household items the family needs. These items range from kitchen utensils and bedding to household consumables.
- Choose an Item to Donate: Select an item (or items) you want to provide. This simple act of giving can make a significant difference in easing the family’s transition into their new home and life.
- Bring Your Donations: You can bring your donated items to the church. We will have a designated area for collecting these gifts.
- Spread the Word: Encourage fellow church members and friends to participate. The more people involved, the greater our impact in supporting this family.
Why Participate? This initiative is more than just a donation drive; it’s a way to engage actively in our love and service mission. By providing for the practical needs of a family starting anew, we offer material support and a message of hope and welcome.
