SUMMARY:Cooking for Crowds Food Safety Training
DESCRIPTION:Cooking for Crowds Food Safety Training\nWhether you’re a longtime hospitality volunteer or are interested in helping with future events\, we encourage you to join us for an important and informative food safety training session on Saturday\, September 19\, at 4:00 PM. \nWe are pleased to welcome Beth Kocsis from Penn State\, who will present Cooking for Crowds\, a comprehensive food safety program designed specifically for volunteers who prepare and serve food at nonprofit organizations. This training covers essential food handling practices\, sanitation procedures\, temperature control\, and other important guidelines that help ensure meals are prepared and served safely. \nThis session is strongly recommended for all Hospitality Committee members and for anyone who would like to use the church kitchen for PHLC events. By participating in this training\, you’ll gain valuable knowledge and practical tips that help protect the health and well-being of everyone attending our gatherings. \nFood safety is a shared responsibility\, and your willingness to learn and follow best practices makes a meaningful difference. Whether you’re preparing a simple fellowship meal\, serving at a special event\, or volunteering for a community outreach program\, the information shared during this session will help you serve with confidence while maintaining a safe environment for all. \nWe greatly appreciate your participation and commitment to supporting our church’s ministries through safe food preparation and service. Your involvement helps ensure that our kitchen remains a welcoming and trusted place for fellowship and community events. \nIf you have any questions or would like additional information\, please contact Jan Hanchak at janette_hanchak@msn.com. \nThank you for your continued dedication to serving others. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday\, September 19\, at 4:00 PM for this valuable training opportunity.

SUMMARY:PHLC Book Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Book Discussion: The Experience of God\nOur book discussion group is currently reading The Experience of God: Being\, Consciousness\, Bliss by David Bentley Hart. This thought-provoking book explores the nature of God and the ways human beings understand and experience the divine. Hart draws on philosophy\, theology\, and the Christian tradition to invite readers to consider some of the most fundamental questions about God\, existence\, consciousness\, and ultimate reality. \nOur next discussion will focus on Chapter 4 and will take place on Sunday\, September 20\, following Adult Bible Study. We encourage everyone who has been reading along to join us for this conversation. \nWhether you have carefully worked through every page or are still making your way through the chapter\, you are welcome to participate. Our discussions provide an opportunity to explore the ideas presented in the book\, ask questions\, share different perspectives\, and consider how the themes connect with our faith and understanding of God. \nCome ready for a thoughtful and engaging conversation as we continue our exploration of Hart’s work together. Reading Chapter 4 in advance is encouraged so that everyone can participate fully in the discussion. \nFor more information about the book discussion or the upcoming meeting\, please contact John Spurlock. \nWe look forward to continuing this conversation and exploring The Experience of God together!
