SUMMARY:Prayer Vigil
DESCRIPTION:Prayer Vigil\nJoin members of PHLC as we stand with our wider community at a weekly prayer vigil in support of immigrants who have been seized and are being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This vigil takes place every Friday\, beginning at 8:30 AM\, at the ICE Field Office\, 3000 Sydney Street\, Pittsburgh. It is grounded in faith\, compassion\, and a shared commitment to justice. \nEach gathering includes hymns\, spoken prayers\, and intentional moments of silence. Together\, we create sacred space in the midst of public life—bearing witness to the dignity of our immigrant neighbors and naming the harm caused by unjust systems. This is a peaceful\, quiet protest\, meant to remind the public that the suffering of our neighbors is not abstract or distant\, but real and happening in our community. \nParticipants are welcome to carry signs that reflect messages of hope\, solidarity\, and justice. In keeping with the spirit of the vigil\, there will be no shouting\, chanting\, or bullhorns. Those attending will stand on the public sidewalk only and may not enter the roadway or the property of the ICE facility. These guidelines help ensure the safety of all involved and preserve the prayerful nature of the gathering. \nThis vigil is an act of faithful presence—showing up\, week after week\, to say that immigrants are beloved\, that families matter\, and that silence in the face of injustice is not an option. Whether you come every Friday or are able to join us once\, your presence matters. \nThe vigil is hosted by Sisters of St. Joseph\, Pax Christi\, and Casa San José. All are welcome to come\, pray\, and stand in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors.

DESCRIPTION:Joint Worship Service & Church Picnic\nJoin us for a special morning of worship\, fellowship\, and food as Perry Highway Lutheran Church and Heritage United Presbyterian Church gather together for a Joint Worship Service and Picnic on Sunday\, August 30\, at 10:00 a.m. For food planning\, we ask that you RSVP here.  \nThis year’s gathering will take place at the Ohio Township Pavilion\, located at 325 Nicholson Road\, Sewickley\, PA 15143. The pavilion offers ample parking\, flush restroom facilities\, and easy accessibility\, making it a comfortable and welcoming location for everyone. \nOur worship service will celebrate the unity we share as followers of Christ and the friendships that continue to grow between our congregations. Whether you’ve attended these joint services before or this is your first time\, we invite you to come and experience a joyful morning of worship in God’s beautiful creation. \nFollowing worship\, we’ll enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch together. Burgers and hot dogs will be provided\, with vegetarian and gluten-free options available so everyone can enjoy the meal. To help round out the picnic\, we invite each household to bring a favorite side dish or dessert to share. \nIf you have one\, please bring a camp chair or folding chair for additional seating. Picnic tables will be available\, but extra chairs will help ensure everyone has a comfortable place to relax\, visit\, and enjoy the afternoon. \nTo help us prepare enough food for everyone\, we ask that you RSVP in advance. Your response will help us plan quantities and accommodate any dietary needs. \nThis annual gathering is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen relationships\, welcome new friends\, and celebrate the gifts of community that God has given us.
