You’re Invited to Join Book Study

You’re invited to join members of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod’s Authentic Diversity and Justice Working Group for a weekly summer book discussion series on Staying Awake: The Gospel for Changemakers by Tyler Sit. This five-week series will take place on Thursdays at 7:00 PM via Zoom, running from July 10 through August 7.

Tyler Sit, a pastor and church planter, offers a fresh and engaging exploration of how faith intersects with justice, activism, and community transformation. Staying Awake invites readers to resist spiritual complacency and stay alert to the movement of the Spirit in the work of social change. With humor, depth, and clarity, Sit draws from scripture, his experience in founding a church committed to racial and environmental justice, and the wisdom of changemakers across generations.

Each session will be an opportunity for honest reflection, open dialogue, and shared learning as we unpack how this book challenges and encourages us in our own contexts. Whether you’re passionate about justice work or just beginning to explore how your faith connects with advocacy and activism, this series welcomes you.

Come with your questions, your insights, and your curiosity. You do not need to commit to every session to participate—join as you are able.

Register today at www.tinyurl.com/ADJSummerReading to receive the Zoom link and weekly discussion guides. The book is available through most major booksellers and online platforms.

Let’s spend this summer staying awake together—rooted in faith, moved by justice, and growing in community. We hope to see you there!
